No Truth in Memory, Part II

Existence came before language
Language is a lie –
Forced meaning into symbolism – words, ideas
And lies – inherited images forced on us,
Existence is real, but our place in it is all founded
And perpetuated by lies.

Perhaps humanity has evolved
To carry great stress. Stress is the center
From which all things flow. It’s either a small
world or a large neighborhood.

Do not forget the ashtrays
For the forgotten lullabies sing to them
And more word partridge for ferment
That escaped your mother’s garden
I do not eclipse the sunken mom
For Friday’s appraisal of what is to come
Will only stall like greed in the circus
Like alimony in dust, all forgiven
All vacant, and all singing to themselves.
