The Standards

I found myself in a large building, almost deserted.
By the remaining forces, I was nominated to be a judge of humanity.
I was told it was because my generation did not keep tigers as pets.
I laughed and asked if that was really the standard.
I attempted to escape the compound.
I got outside the gates and down the downward sloped road
Where I saw a wolf.

The wolf stopped and looked at me.
I knew I had to get back to the building.
I did not want to run back up the road
And let the wolf know there was an easy path
To catch me.
I so I climbed up the hill adjacent to the road.

The steep hill was not grass or dirt or rock,
But instead it was made of dry mud, in the shape of rocks.
It was difficult to climb
Back to safety.
I was not able to even turn back to see if the wolf
Was pursuing me.
I managed to get pretty high up the hill.
I was almost to the gates when a caravan of large vehicles
Came out of the compound,
Honking their horns
As if to scare away
Something.
