Sympathy, Empathy, and Mercy
The contentment of innocence, shaded, and perturbed
Is not appreciated or understood like friendly owls emasculating your eyelids
How soon we forget the potential of peace and retreat into solemn seconds
When regret and dismay tribute to a terrors season, filled with down and petals
You do not act as you live, agreeable only to a point
You betray the first hazards in the dark, where soft songs try to forget you
You lose your self-respect to matrimony, abetting allied roses and pinched nerves
And distill sovereign witnesses, like meter on dime reclusive toasted lanterns
Like evaporations of time, where shadows of regret lay in banquets
One day sing, and forget again
For you will never be delinquent to err
